Ear Hair Removal For Men

Things Happen - Ear hair removal may not be a big deal for many men, in fact is usually if little concern for younger men. As we get older though, changes happen. These changes tend to be subtle at first, either barely noticed, or not noticed at all. At a certain age we begin to be aware of them. In later years we may get a bit shorter and sometimes a bit wider or even a lot wider. Noses grow larger or at least appear to, as do ears and the feet.

Hair Goes, And Comes  - Some time between our 20's and middle age, the hair on our head begins to thin out, and places appear where there is no hair at all. We tend to become preoccupied with the hair loss, not realizing at first that there is at the same time some hair gain, in our ears. It's probably a bit less noticeable if one has very blond hair, although ear hair isn't necessarily the same color as what's on the head. Ear hair removal isn't usually the first thing that comes to mind however, at least not until someone comments on it, or we're terribly concerned about our image (most older men aren't). At some point though, usually when we've resigned ourselves that we'll never have a full head of natural hair again, thoughts turn to whether or not ear hair removal is necessary, and if so, how best to go about it.

Which Tools To Use - Scissors may be the first thing tried but are usually too large to do much. The hair on the ear lobe is often hard to see, and the hair growing just inside the lobe, at the start of the ear canal, can be a little hard to get at. We can borrow one of our wife's scissors, those little nail scissors they like. These work, but they are usually very pointed and sharp, and not something we like to get too near the ear. Then there's the razor blade, which we're pretty good at handling. We might have some luck with the hair on the ear lobe, but those pesky hairs on the inside are hard to get at without slicing yourself up a bit.

On the surface, ear hair removal should be among the simplest of tasks. The problems though are some of the hairs are a bit difficult to get at, and we don't like to stick things in our ear canal, especially sharp things. And we shouldn't. Even if depilatory cremes or other chemicals appear to work, one can be justifiably hesitant about putting chemicals inside the ear canal. There's also the question as to whether we want to remove the hair permanently or temporarily, and there are good arguments on both sides of that question.

Permanent Removal - For permanent ear hair removal, either a chemical treatment, or a laser treatment could be used. A laser treatment would of course be done by a professional, but it makes sense than any method used for permanent removal should be done by someone who has done it many times before and knows what he or she is doing. Another option would be the use of tweezers, which for some reason most men don't care to use, or at least seem to be more afraid of pulling hairs out than are women. With tweezers though, there is always a chance of infection, not usually a problem with the other methods.

The Electric Razor - Most men opt for temporary ear hair removal. In fact the barber will often clip off any hairs that are particularly long or noticeable. A method favored by many, and one that is certainly very effective, is an electric razor which has a fitting that does the job, not only for ear hair, but nose hair as well. Many of these electric razors are in a kit form, and are useful for ear and nose hair removal, trimming back hair that starts to grow over the tops of the ears, and trimming beards and mustaches. One can get a battery-powered razor, although a rechargeable razor usually holds a charge long enough to take it along when traveling. An electric razor with the special fittings has my vote.
